Conservation Update: Anglers
4 Horsetooth, update by Eric Bergersen. He advised that we are at a temporary slow
down, due to some archeological finds.
They are currently being flagged for us to stay away from. Some dead trees have been marked for removal,
so they may be placed in holes and filled with concrete. Ridges will have to be reseeded to hold them
together. There are a total of 75 ridges
that have been put in some of the coves and more will be put in later. We will be planning to use some natural seed
instead of store bought seed ($800.00/acre).
There has been some stocking going on approx. 17,000 Fatheads, 17,000
emerald shiners. There are also 2
growths of Gizzard shads. There is a
possibility that next year Cheeseman Res. May be
shocked electrically for some smallies to put into
Horsetooth. We are also looking at some
areas around the lake to stock pile structure.
Eric will coordinate with Bill W. for assistance. Eric also advised that the fish that were in
Sheldon Lk. were used to stock some of the lakes
around
Anyone, volunteering to help
needs to sign in at the trailers at the north end of the lake. Look into collecting funds and possibly start
a committee. Need to contact some scouts
to help with seeding.
