FMO Steering Committee

                                                     3 Jan. 2006 Gamblers Steakhouse

Chairperson Bill Wilson opened the meeting with 8 members in attendance. Bill reported that Larimer County is taking a different approach in the way it will be handling tournaments for the 2006 season. If the club has a tournament with less than 12 boats, there would be no fee charged to the club. Should the club have more than 12 boats at any one tournament, the club would be charged the County Special Events fee of $200. Bill also reported that there is to be a rather large Walleye tournament the same weekend as CBC has scheduled The FMO that is estimated to attract between 75-100 boats. With that size of tournament, it was suggested by Bill that CBC move the dates for The FMO from 5-6 Aug. to 8-9 July. Much discussion followed. The Steering Committee agreed that this would be the best solution for all concerned and that the matter would be presented to the membership at the upcoming business meeting. Sponsorship of The FMO was also discussed. Several businesses have already been contacted by CBC members, but everyone was encouraged to continue to work toward increasing the number of sponsors. Gary Dykeman agreed to be both a sponsor for The FMO and to supply the trophies for The FMO. Steering Committee meeting adjourned prior to the start of the regular CBC monthly meeting.

Anything more than 12 boats at a tournament would constitute the club being charged the County Special Events fee of probably $200. any number of boats less than 12, there would be no charge. The club would be charged for The FMO. Bill also reported to the club that Larimer County has approved a large Walleye tournament (75-100 boats) will be held on 5-6 Aug.-the same dates CBC had scheduled The FMO.  The suggestion by The FMO Steering Committee to change The FMO dates from 5-6 Aug. to 8-9 July was discussed. As the club had few other options, there was minimal discussion. A motion was made by Ron Mayer and seconded by Pete Marshall to move The FMO open dates to 8-9 July. Motion carried. Members are urged to watch the website.

Pres. Lind then introduced the outgoing Secretary of The Colo. Bass Federation, Jay McMillian. Jay gave a very interesting and informative rundown of the present rift between BASS and the newly formed Bass Federation (TBF). He described the present situation as a win-win situation for the clubs as there would be additional tournaments available to members to participate in, but at the present time TBF has no product to offer.  Jay said that most Western States have sided with BASS as opposed to TBF, but clubs should adopt a "wait and see" attitude before making any decisions.

CBC's Pres. Lind is the new Secretary of The Colo. Bass Federation.

Pres. Lind reminded all CBC members that an individuals club dues run from Jan. to Jan. and are not on a "rolling calendar". Also the dues the CBC pays to BASS does not cover an individuals subscription dues to BASS.
